U.S. Seizes Rusian-Flagged Oil Tanker linked to Venezuela

U.S. on Wednesday seized two Venezuela-linked oil tankers, one of which was sailing under Russian flag, in the Atlantic Ocean.

Russian submarine and vessels were nearby during the seizure and the operation thus is said to have risked confrontation.

The seizure by the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. military special force took place after a long chase across the Atlantic, bearing a judicial seizure warrant.

China is the main buyer of Venezuelan oil and it has denounced the U.S. action.
