United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stated to the nations that the organisation is facing a risk of “imminent financial collapse”, according to a report by international new agency Reuters.

The UN Secretary-General has written a letter dated January 28 to the ambassadors, which Reuters said it has seen, that stated, "The crisis is deepening, threatening programme delivery and risking financial collapse. And the situation will deteriorate further in the near future".

Member states contribute to the world body, with which the UN runs its different activities, including peace-keeping, and offices.
