The 23rd day of U.S.-Israel war with Iran saw a further escalation sending waves of global concerns even as most countries around the globe reel under energy crisis.

U.S. President Donald Trump, in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, threatened to “hit and obliterate” Iran’s power plants if it did not open the Strait of Hormuz in the next 48 hours.

The Strait is significant to maritime traffic, particularly for oil and natural gas as it navigates 20 per cent of global maritime traffic.

Media reports quoted Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the US Central Command, as saying that the U.S. military has dropped multiple 5,000-pound bombs on an underground facility of Iran where Iran stored missiles and other war equipment, in order to break the country’s ability to keep the Strait of Hormuz shut.

Israel on the other hand launched missiles at Tehran, targeting the eastern region. Iran retaliated with missile launch near Israel’s nuclear facility region, which, according to media reports, has left many injured.

Iran, responding to U.S. President Trump’s threat of striking Iran’s energy facilities, has said it hit energy infrastructures in the Middle East which have links to the U.S. and Israel.

According to media reports quoting the IRGC of Iran, the IRGC targeted Israeli military installations and security centres located in the cities of Arad, Eilat, Beersheba, Dimona and Kiryat Gat.

Meanwhile, the U.S. has lifted sanctions on Iran, only on the oil in sea.

Iran also launched drones upon Saudi Arabia, mostly on the eastern province where energy facilities of the country are located. Media reports, however, said most drones have been intercepted. Ballistic missiles were also fired towards Riyadh by Iran, though they fell in uninhabited area. Saudi Arabia, responding to the action of Iran, Saudi Arabia asked the diplomatic staff of Iran to leave.

Iran also targeted US bases in Bahrein.

Meanwhile, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian called upon the BRICS nations to “play an independent role in halting aggressions against Iran”.

Presently, the BRICS alliance is chaired by India. India has not said anything substantial as yet on the war.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his post on X said, “Israel has proved again in the last 48 hours that it is the enemy of civilization and danger to the free world”.
