An avalanche on the Himalayan peak Yalung Ri in Nepal has left three climbers dead and eight others missing, according to reports on Monday.
The avalanche struck a climbing expedition at the base camp of Yalung Ri, a 5,630-meter (18,470-foot) peak located in the Rolwaling Valley of the Dolakha district in northeastern Nepal, a neighbour of India which in recent past had witnessed a youth unrest.
Among the dead is one foreign national. Of the eight others missing, five are said to be foreign nationals, and their nationalities are still being ascertained.
Himalayan mountain range attracts a huge number of adventurists who take to mountaineering with the locals as guide. However, harsh weather and avalanches often make their expedition challenging.
