The proposed free trade deal, being known as Mercosur trade deal, according to the argument of the protesting farmers, will flood European Union market with cheap food imports and create problem for local problems.

The Mercosur (Southern Common Market) is a South American trade bloc formed in 1991 by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, aiming for free movement of goods, services, capital, and people. Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname are associate members.

The Mercosur bloc create a significant market among themselves as well as with other blocs that enter into a deal with it.
